The Bromma crocodile

About us

We are a small unique preschool in Nockeby, founded in 1988, nestled in greenery right next to the shores of Lake Mälaren, the forest and playgrounds. We combine outdoor play with an exciting indoor environment where children’s natural curiosity and learning are stimulated.

Focus and profile

At Brommakrokodilen, we work according to Montessori education and the preschool curriculum. Montessori education is based on the child’s inherent power and desire to learn and develop. This means letting the children develop at their own pace, being sensitive to their different needs for stimulation and giving them the opportunity and freedom to choose the activity that suits them best at any given time. Our motto is always to start from each child’s desire to “help me do it myself”. Children are curious and full of the joy of discovery, at Krokodilen we give the children the tools they need to explore and learn things themselves.

We go outside every day, rain or shine. It is important that children spend a lot of time outside and play freely, but good learning environments are also created in the outdoor environment. The children and teachers regularly go to the forest to recharge their batteries. All sorts of exciting things are brought to the preschool to be explored or created in the studio. In the well-prepared indoor environment, it is easy to know what to do and where to find different things and materials.

At Brommakrokodilen we focus on movement and health. We take advantage of the children’s natural joy of movement and at the same time give the children the opportunity to develop their motor skills and body awareness. We have signed up for Generation Pep, an organization that wants all children and young people in Sweden to have the opportunity and desire to live an active and healthy life. PepPreschool is a digital tool that supports us in our work with movement and healthy eating. Every day we have guided sessions with movement games and other activities. We have converted one of the preschool’s rooms into a movement room, and in the courtyard and in the forest, the children have additional opportunities for movement.

Our vision is to create a preschool that is stimulating, safe, fun and educational for children and teachers – and where we see each child as a unique personality who is supported in their individual development and learns in interaction with others. This helps children to develop self-respect and also respect for others.

Brommakrokodilen is a small family preschool with room for 28 children. Here the team, which consists of trained nannies and preschool teachers with montessori training, has time to listen to the children. At Krokodilen we work in an age-integrated way, which is one of the basic principles of Montessori education. A social context is also created where friendships and relationships develop across age groups. The children learn from each other, develop cooperation and learn to be considerate. All children are challenged based on different individual interests and needs, which is why we offer our future schoolchildren extra challenges in language and mathematics, but also in cooperation exercises.
